Please see TERA updates for past development and new content. On same day Gameforge and Bluehole announced global and permanent closure of TERA PC version on 30th June 2022. PC version publishing rights were given to Gameforge, which remained the only publisher of TERA outside Korea. In addition to this, the game would receive an Enhanced Graphics Mode for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X (Xbox Series S included), with cross-generation cross-play between PlayStation and Xbox Players. On August 2020 it was announced that the Krafton's NA publisher En Masse Entertainment will shut down and give the publishing right of TERA's Console version back to Krafton Console Department. TERA has since been released in China, Russia and for South-East Asia and in 2018 for game consoles Playstation 4 and Xbox One. While in-game purchases are not required to play, the store offers multiple items including costumes, consumables, loot boxes, boosts, mounts and pets. While there is no longer a subscription, players can still pay a monthly fee for "Elite Status" to receive extra benefits including extra dungeon entries, special mount and in-game discounts as well as other items. It was made available to players on Steam on 2015 (NA version) and 2017 (EU version). The NA/EU version originally required a subscription to play but in February 2013, the game re-released as TERA: Rising and became free to play. The game originally released in Korea in January 2011 and was brought to NA and EU players in May of 2012 by En Masse Entertainment and Gameforge. TERA is a fantasy MMORPG developed by Bluehole Studio. Written by Kyle Campbell on behalf of GLHF.The Exiled Realm of Arborea a.k.a. ![]() Elder Scrolls Online is free-to-play right now, World of Warcraft is getting the Dragonflight expansion along with Wrath of the Lich King Classic servers, and Final Fantasy 14 is incredible. However, there are plenty of brilliant MMORPGs out there for Tera fans needing a new virtual home. Tera initially came out in North America in May 2012, so this shutdown is coming just after the game’s 10th anniversary. It’s always sad when this sort of thing happens. As the last remaining publisher, it is with a heavy heart that we must respect Bluehole’s decision, and will also have to shut down the game. Unfortunately, we come bearing bad news: TERA’s developers, have decided to cease work on TERA. Since Krafton publishes the Xbox and PlayStation versions of Tera rather than Gameforge, console fans can likely breathe easy. The announcement page didn’t mention whether this decision would affect Tera’s console ports, other than noting that migration options won’t be an option. “Instead, they would like to focus their internal development efforts on other projects.” “After careful deliberations, the developers of Tera have unfortunately taken the difficult decision to end development of the game, as they feel that they are no longer able to provide the satisfying content that Tera players deserve,” Gameforge’s statement reads. Account registration will no longer be possible beginning May 31, 2022, and in-game purchases will deactivate by that date as well. On Wednesday, publisher Gameforge announced that the PC servers for Tera will go offline on June 30, 2022, at 1:00 A.M. The PC version of Tera, the long-running MMORPG from Bluehole, is shutting down later this summer. ![]()
